Care Worker of the Month – February 2025

Many congratulations to our February Care Worker of the Month award winner, Alison McGee. Alison is a Support Worker at Bromley by Bow Centre and was nominated by her Manager – Clare Kelly.

Please find Clare's nomination story below:

“I would like to nominate Alison McGee. She has worked at the Bromley by Bow Centre for over 30 years and has a genuine passion to care for our clients. She has played a big part of so many of our client (& staff) journeys at the Centre, having a real knack of remembering and caring about the lives and stories the clients share with her.

“The extra reason I am nominating her is for dealing with a particular stressful day when three of our regular Support Workers were off (due to sickness – we are a small team). Our clients know and feel comfortable with our regular staff and can be anxious when they do not know staff. Alison supported three bank staff, clients who were very unsettled, a client being unwell, delivered two activity sessions and whilst it was an extremely stressful and relentless day for her she handled it confidently putting everyone else first to make sure they were all ok.

“This is not the first time a day like this as happened to Alison and whist we do plan this could not be avoided (that three were unwell). It would be wonderful if she could be acknowledged for this. Alison is a dedicated and hard-working Support Worker who is an asset to our services I feel extremely lucky to have her in the team.”
