Care Worker of the Month – September 2024
We are delighted to announce that our Care Worker of the Month award winner for September is Tim Keegan – a support worker at Alzheimer's Support in Warminster.
It is the last Friday of the month and the sun is shining! It is also the day we look forward to all month at SCTV - our Care Worker of the Month Award winner announcement!
Thank you so much to everyone that entered this month. We were very moved as always by your incredible stories and nominations.
We are very pleased to announce that our winner for May is Debby Smith from Under The Stars in Sheffield. Debby was nominated by her Managing Director – Ruth Parrot. Please find Ruth’s story below:
“I’d like to nominate my Colleague Debby Smith for care worker of the month. We run an alternative to day services and run drama and music sessions for adults with learning disabilities.
Debby has worked with me for 7 years now and her kindness has no bounds. She just always knows what to do in the best person centred way to support our artists to have the best day and achieve what they never thought was possible. She is creative calm and sensible in her responses, a lady was panicking and gasping for air and Debs stayed calm instinctively knew to rub her back and that it was trapped wind not the ambulance job we were all fearing.
She is so dedicated and devoted and talented, she sat for hours making costumes for our recent performances in the theatre. She has time for everyone and is our calm and the glue that keeps all our staff and artists with learning disabilities together. At our most recent performance she made sure everyone was settled calm and ready before people went off onto the stage at the theatre ready to give their best performance to crowds of 300 people.
Debby just is so intuitive and beautifully kind in her practice, she knows when people need assurance, love or just a go on and be brave chat! This is for staff too!
Life’s been throwing some challenges at her recently and it’s been a really hard time for her at home. Yet she walks in and gives everyone in our sessions their best day and gives it her all with a smile on her face. She is the glue that keeps so many of us together, both staff and people with learning disabilities and their families.”
Many Congratulations Debby. You are truly inspirational, and we thank you for your dedication, for making such a difference to the lives of countless others and for all you do.
