Platinum Jubilee

“I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.”

A young Princess Elizabeth famously delivered these enduring and heartwarming words on her twenty-first birthday, 21st April 1947, on a tour of South Africa with her parents and younger sister.

And never have truer words been spoken.

This year, we celebrate Her Majesty’s incredible 70 year reign.

On 2nd June, the Queen will become the first British Monarch in history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. As we come together to celebrate this very special occasion, a collective sense of pride and excitement is sweeping across the country.

At Social Care TV we are full of the utmost admiration for Queen Elizabeth II and for her unwavering steadfastness throughout the years.  We look forward to celebrating with a Jubilee themed afternoon.

Millions of others across the country are planning similar events and we spoke to some of our customers regarding their plans.

Kate Hopkins at Stella House in Pontefract told us that they are having four days of celebrations including a barbeque, singer, raffle, Jubilee bingo, garden party, games and afternoon tea! This sounds fantastic Kate and we wish you all the very best with your plans.

The Princes Centre in Princes Risborough will be holding a party for the Jubilee on Wednesday 1st June with decorations, afternoon tea, buffet lunch, balloons and wartime entertainers - ‘Polka Dots’.  Their staff will also be dressing up.

‘We hope to have lots of fun, create special memories and celebrate in style.  We hope to support approximately 60 people at the party - many with Dementia, Alzheimer’s and learning disabilities’ advises manager Kim Challinor.

How wonderful Kim – and we wish you all the very best for your incredibly special and fun event.

Our customer Tower House in Henley are also celebrating in true Henley style with an afternoon tea of strawberry jam and scones, cucumber sandwiches and battenburg cake, Sinead Kidd, Service Manager informed us. Sounds delicious! There will also be a special display of flags and bunting.

Hundreds of thousands of those receiving care in this country have grown up and lived their entire lives so far with this exceptional woman at the helm. Our head of the Royal Family, head of the Commonwealth, globally respected monarch, beloved Queen.

We know this celebration holds a very special place in the hearts of all and we look forward to hearing more Jubilee stories and seeing photos and videos of the fun events taking place across the country to mark this historic occasion.
