Care Worker of the Month – March 2023

It is the last Friday of the month which can mean only one thing here at SCTV HQ! It is time to announce our Care Worker of the Month Award winner. This month we were delighted to receive a very high number of entries. Thank you to everyone that entered. We were very moved by your incredible stories and nominations.

We are very pleased to announce that our winner for March is Linda Thomson – Care Worker at The Laurels Nursing Home, Lancashire. Linda was nominated by her manager, Catherine Conner. Please find Catherine’s story below:

“Linda Thomson has worked here for over 20 years as a care worker, she never calls in sick, she trains all new staff, she takes responsibility for the mattresses, hoists, slings and paperwork.

We are currently teaching all staff the practical side of fire evacuation and Linda volunteered to be the resident, she has been dragged from beds, bumped down stairs and bent in half when staff took her down the wrong corridor but as usual all with a smile!

When we needed a part time chef, she also split her days between being in the kitchen and work on the floor. She even makes all the residents birthday cakes by hand, and they are good! Nothing is ever too much for Linda to do and she helps everybody the same way, although Linda's own health has not been great, she still puts the residents and staff team first. She is a mascot for this home and we could never thank her enough for all she does here.”

Many congratulations Linda. You are truly inspirational and we thank you for your dedication, for making such a difference to the lives of countless others and for all you do.

Do you know our April winner?

If so, please email info@socialcare.tv with your name, contact details, name of the person you are nominating and the reasons why this inspirational person should be our next winner.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend one and all!
