Care Worker of the Month – November 2022

It is our favourite day of the month - Care Worker of the Month award winner announcement day! We are delighted to announce that our winner for November is Angela Quigley - an Activities Coordinator nominated by her manager Carianne Winter from Canford Manor Nursing Home in Lee-on-Solent.

Angela is a shining example of going above and beyond in her role and we are thrilled to recognise her incredible effort and dedication. Please find Carianne’s story below:

“Angela will always go the extra mile to provide person centred care for our residents; this includes learning the words to the chants of their favourite football teams, becoming an expert in horse racing to discuss who the running is most favourable for, scouring car boot sales for items to remind them of their past as well as singing and dancing her way around the home which is infectious for both residents and staff.

Angela has been instrumental in supporting residents’ beliefs, she obtained some crosses from the local church that have greatly comforted particularly one of our residents with mental health needs. Her presence in the home has been noticed by relatives and visitors as well as residents with many comments about the happy atmosphere due to her cheerful and upbeat persona.

Since taking on the role, care staff have become more engaged with activities, and it is no longer seen as a separate role from care. Staff and residents all look forward to the next theme day. Angela as captain Blackbeard at our pirate day where she had arranged a treasure trove, swashbuckling sword fighting and a group of singers to sing sea shanties. She spent the whole day in character!

Angela is retiring next month; she will be greatly missed by us all at Canford Manor, however has inspired other staff members to continue her work, they have enjoyed learning from her unique approach to activities.”
